Box Score The Wolf Pack recorded their highest hitting percentage of the season (.313) to take down the Lady Barons in straight sets
NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team closed out a five-game homestand with a three-set victory (25-12, 25-17, 25-17) over Brewton-Parker Saturday at The Den.
The Wolf Pack now own a 7-5 overall record, including a 5-1 record against Southern States Athletic Conference opponents.
Brewton-Parker scored the first two points of the match, but Loyola quickly responded with four of their own. Loyola then out-scored the Lady Barons 12-2, prompting a timeout from the visitors with Loyola leading 16-6. It was all Loyola in the opening period, as they took Set 1, 25-12.
Errors by the Lady Barons gave Loyola the first two points of the second frame, but the visitors kept it close for a majority of the period. Brewton-Parker cut the home lead to 19-17, but the Pack closed out Set 2 with a 7-0 run to win it 25-17.
The first three points of Set 3 belonged to Loyola, with the Pack getting kills by Brittany Cooper, Jules Mokry, and Camryn Costanza. Loyola opened the frame out-scoring the Lady Barons 12-3, and the last three points of that run came on back-to-back-to-back service aces from Gracie Bailey. Loyola closed out the final set on a 9-1 run, featuring kills from Mokry, Brandi Lopez, and three from Emily Sheperis.
Wolf Pack Head Coach Jesse Zabal
"We had a strong finish to a long week. We saw almost everyone on our roster contribute on the floor today and we're so proud of their effort and ability to take care of business. All of our attackers had strong performances, allowing us our highest team hitting percentage so far this year. Kailyn, Casey, and Emily all avoided any errors on offense. And as a team, we were much more confident at the service line. It'll be a busy few weeks to finish out the second half as we're on the road for the majority, where we'll see Florida College and Brewton-Parker again next week. We're excited to continue building on our 5-1 start."
