Loyola women's basketball falls to LSU in exhibition

It was the second exhibition game of the season for the Wolf Pack, whose season officially starts in a week

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball team played its second exhibition game in a row against an NCAA DI program as the team ramps up to the upcoming season opener. The Wolf Pack dropped Thursday's contest 87-49 against LSU in the state capital.

Loyola women's basketball officially opens the 2021-22 season on the road a week from today, facing No. 8 Wayland Baptist at 7 p.m. in Plainview, Texas on Thursday, November 11.

Thursday's game started similarly to Monday's matchup against Tulane, as Loyola kept it close near the beginning of the game. The Wolf Pack and Tigers were tied 25-25 with a little over six minutes left in the half, but the home team went on a 17-1 scoring run to end the half and lead it 42-26 at the break.

LSU pulled away in the second half, out-scoring Loyola 45-20 to secure the victory at home.

Tay Cannon, after going 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, scored 15 to lead the Wolf Pack. Kennedy Hansberry was the other double-digit scorer for Loyola; she had 12 points.
