Box Score The Loyola volleyball team traveled to Mobile, Alabama, Saturday for its final match of the fall semester
MOBILE, Ala. – The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team was handed a close three-set loss (25-22, 25-21, 25-22) by Mobile Saturday, concluding the five-match non-conference fall schedule for the Wolf Pack. Loyola will enter the 14-match spring conference schedule with a 2-3 overall record.
Loyola's season will resume against William Carey on Feb. 26.
On Saturday, Mobile jumped out early in the first two sets, but the Wolf Pack battled back in both games to have a chance. The Rams took an early 5-1 lead in the first, then Brittany Cooper got three kills to cut the lead to 8-6. Jordan Bernard, Jules Mokry and Emily Sheperis got in on the action as well, making it a 15-13 Mobile lead. Trailing Mobile by one late, though, the Wolf Pack couldn't tie the game, as the Rams outscored Loyola 6-4 down the stretch.
Again, Loyola fell behind early in Set 2. Mobile pushed the lead to 12-5 before three kills by Sheperis cut the Rams' lead to 14-13. Mokry and a Mobile attack error put the Pack to within a point late, but like in the first set, the Rams were able to close the game out.
In the third set, it was Loyola's turn to take an early lead, taking a 7-3 advantage quickly. The teams battled to ties at 8-8 and 16-16, but Mobile got two service aces to win take the lead and eventually win the match.
Pack Facts
Kailyn O'Neal tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 12 assists and 10 digs.
Freshmen Jules Mokry and Emily Sheperis continue to impress, each recording six kills. The two have 39 and 38 kills, respectively, this season.
Brittany Cooper led the Pack with eight kills, and she now has 48 in 17 sets. The sophomore also had 12 digs in Saturday's match.
