Wolf Pack Wrap Up Mid-South Conference Challenge With Win Against Point, Loss to Lindsey Wilson

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Loyola will return to action this Thursday, August 29, for a 6 p.m. match at Dillard.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team went 2-2 at the 2019 Mid-South Conference Challenge after defeating Point University and falling to No. 9 Lindsey Wilson College on Saturday.

The Wolf Pack (3-5) carried momentum from last night's victory against Shawnee State into their early match against the Skyhawks (2-2), winning again in straight sets. The day's second match against the Blue Raiders (4-0) didn't go as well for the Pack, as last year's NAIA National Championship quarterfinalists didn't drop a set in their victory.

The first two sets of the day were a breeze for Loyola, each resulting in a score of 25-17 in favor of the Pack. Point put up more of a challenge in the final frame, holding the lead for the majority of the period. Down 22-18, Loyola put together an 8-2 run to take the set 26-24 and earn their third match victory of the season.

Lindsey Wilson proved to be a challenge, defeating the Pack 25-20, 25-17, 25-14.

Loyola will return to action in New Orleans this coming Thursday, August 29, for a 6 p.m. road match at Dillard.

Wolf Pack Head Coach Jesse Zabal

"We're very proud of the work our team put in this weekend. Coming out 2-2 in a challenging tournament is encouraging and gives us a very positive outlook on the season. Malea Howie really had herself a day and put the ball away for us. The resiliency the girls showed in our match against Point is what we've been working toward. Being down 20-24 and coming back to take the set and the match is phenomenal. That mindset & fight is about way more than volleyball. These girls love each other, are playing for each other, and have each other's back through anything"
