The Wolf Pack improves to 6-4 in conference play with three SSAC games left

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The Loyola Wolf Pack got back in the win column Saturday, taking down Florida College in four sets (25-23, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21). With the win, the Wolf Pack improves to 13-16 overall and 6-4 in Southern States Athletic Conference play.

The first set featured five ties before the Wolf Pack pushed ahead 15-10, finishing the opening game with a 25-23 win. Florida College battled back to tie the game at 20-all, but Loyola never relinquished the lead.

The second set was a little easier for Loyola, as it took the early lead en route to the 25-19 second-set win. After the Pack grabbed the 6-5 advantage, it extended the lead even more for the six-point win.

In hopes for a sweep, Loyola made a late run in the third set, but the the Falcons extended the match with a 25-23 win. The Wolf Pack trailed 22-18 before cutting the lead to 23-21.

In the fourth set, it was Florida College's turn to make a late run. However, Loyola held one to claim the match, 25-21. The Wolf Pack took a 16-11 lead midway through the set only to see the lead shrink to to 20-19. But, the Pack scored five of the final seven points to win the match.

Next up, the Wolf Pack will travel to Mobile Tuesday for a 7 p.m. conference matchup.

Wolf Pack Head coach Jesse Zabal

"This was a great weekend for the team. We played extremely well against Southeastern on Friday night and just missed the win by a few plays. We were hoping the girls would carry that strong play into this afternoon, and they did just that. We made a few too many unforced errors in the third set to close it out, but turned around and started the fourth strong.

"Gracie Bailey and Casey Aucoin were strong at the service line and got a few aces at pivotal moments. Helene Masone had an incredible weekend on defense and made some fantastic plays to keep rallies going for us. Strong blocking from the entire team really made a difference. Thirteen team blocks in four sets is really something to be proud of. We turned a corner this weekend and we want to continue our strong play when we get back to it against Mobile on Tuesday."
