Box Score 2 Loyola begins the Millsaps Invitational with a pair of 3-0 victories to move to 6-4 on the season
JACKSON, Miss. – To begin their four-game schedule at the Millsaps Invitational, the Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team defeated Dillard and the University of Dallas each by a score of 3-0 Friday evening at the Hangar Dome.
In their first match the Wolf Pack (6-4) took on Dillard for the second time this season, after claiming the first matchup 3-1 at the Dillard Classic on August 25th. While their first contest of the season was a tight one, the Pack took over today's game, never trailing in any set and winning 25-18 in the first, and 25-12 in the second and third.
Taking on the University of Dallas in their second game of the day, Loyola trailed early, down 4-11 in the first set. The Pack would battle back however, claiming set one 25-19 before rolling on to win in straight sets through aggressive serves and strong blocking.
The Wolf Pack will close out the tournament with two matches tomorrow, beginning with Tougaloo College at 11 a.m. followed by a 1 p.m. game against Rust College.
"Today was a day we've been working towards and waiting to see from our team. The focus, effort and energy the team has been putting in during practice really translated into our play. It was exciting to watch and a great way to bounce back from last weekend."
"It's hard to highlight individuals because we saw such great performances from everyone. Our blocking and serving was the best we've seen so far this season and that really helped us dominate today."
