Pack Drop Pair of Road Matches to Move to 10-10

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Already playing in their 16th and 17th road matches this season, the Wolf Pack were unable to come up with a win in Florida

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – In their seventh doubleheader on the road this year the Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team suffered two losses Saturday, falling 3-0 to Florida College and 3-2 to Florida National.

In the first match of the day, the Wolf Pack (10-10, 2-4) took on one of the new members of their conference, Florida College for the first time this season. After Loyola scored the initial point of the match, the Falcons took a lead they would hold en route to a 25-21 win in set one. While set two was controlled by Florida College as they won 25-15, the Pack would fight back in the third. Down 13-7, Loyola scored 10 of the next 14 to draw it even at 17-all. However, the home team would eventually claim the third set, and match win.

In game two of the day the Pack faced off against Florida National, conceding the first two sets. In set three Loyola would battle back, as the two teams traded points before reaching the 23-23 point. Malea Howie would put the Pack up with one of her 22 kills on the day, before a block by Champagne Cunningham and Maddie Huekels sealed the set win for Loyola to make it 2-1.

While set four was close to begin, reaching a 9-9 draw, the Pack took the lead on the following point and would hold it the remainder of the game to win 25-21. The fifth set was claimed by Florida National however, as the Pack dropped a closely contested match 3-2.

Loyola will return to New Orleans for their next match on the schedule, heading across town to face SUNO on Wednesday, October 3rd at 6 p.m.

Wolf Pack Head Coach Jesse Zabal

"We had some great moments against Florida College, but rallied too late in each set and in the match as a whole. Tylar Beckham contributed a lot for us offensively and defensively against the Falcons."

"Against Florida National, we were learning a lot as we went. We had a great comeback in the match with our set three and four wins and started set five on top. Our serving improved and we were passing phenomenally. Unfortunately, we couldn't close out the match."
