Box Score Loyola opens up conference play with a 2-0 weekend after victories over Brewton-Parker and Middle Georgia State.
MACON, Ga. – In the final road match before their home opener, the Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory over Middle Georgia State on Saturday afternoon.
The Wolf Pack (10-5) jumped out to a fast start, taking a 9-2 lead early in the first set. The Knights (1-3), however, would make a roaring comeback, taking the set 25-22.
Loyola would have a strong response to the Knights' first-set win, as the Pack dominated the second frame 25-14. The visiting Wolf Pack would also take each of the third and fourth sets by a score of 25-19 to seal the victory and improve to 2-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference matches in the 2018 season.
After 15-consecutive road matches to start the season, the Wolf Pack will return to New Orleans to host their first home match, a 6 p.m. matchup with Bethel at The Den on Friday, September 21.
"We're happy to start off conference play 2-0! Our middles (Beckham and Cunningham) were able to get in rhythm more today than yesterday and both came out with strong offensive numbers for us. Maddie Huekels had yet another strong match, just two kills off from a triple-double."

Dating back to the 2016 season, Loyola has now won five of the last six matches vs Middle Georgia.
Tylar Beckham led all players with a season-high 17 kills on a .386 hitting percentage.
Maddie Huekels and Sunni Blanchard each had double-digit assists in the same match for the 10th time this season.
The reigning SSAC Setter of the Week, Huekels logged 23 assists, the sixth time this season that she's had at least 20 assists in a match.
Huekels also led all players in digs with 19, while team digs leader Helene Masone added 15.
