No. 15 Middle Georgia State Tops Loyola 6-1

The Wolf Pack drop their third game to the Knights this weekend

WESTWEGO, La. - In their third and final game of a home series with No. 15 Middle Georgia State, the Loyola University New Orleans baseball team fell 6-1 Saturday afternoon at Segnette Field.

The Knights (28-11, 8-4) were first to hit the scoreboard in the top of the first inning, before plating two more later in the fourth. After the visitors added three more runs in the sixth inning, the Wolf Pack (15-23, 1-14) were able to score a run in the seventh, after Payton Alexander hit a leadoff single down the third-baseline, before Gabriel Trastoy brought him in on a sac-fly to center.

The one run was all the Pack could score unfortunately, as Loyola would drop the third game of the series 6-1.

The Wolf Pack will take to the road this week, heading to Mobile, Ala. to face Spring Hill in a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 3rd before facing Brewton-Parker in a three-game road series beginning April 6th.

Wolf Pack Head Coach Doug Faust

"We played one of the better teams in the country this weekend and got beaten in all three facets all three games: pitching, hitting, and defense. The scores, like today, got away from us because of the gifts that we gave them.

We swung the bats better, but we still didn't score enough to win. It's encouraging because we had good at bats this weekend. We hit a lot of balls right at people and had competitive at-bats.

I told the guys after the game, now we start April. We start over in the month of April 0-0, and we go and see how many games we can win this month. That's all we can do."
