Pack Drop Road Contest At Bethel 3-2

Loyola falls by just one run for the third time in three games at Bethel

MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team dropped another heartbreaker to Bethel, falling 3-2 at Wildcat Park Friday afternoon.

A scoreless game through the first two innings, the Wolf Pack (15-18, 1-11) struck first in the third, beginning with a leadoff walk from Ben Condara. Charlie Seiter reached base after he was hit by a pitch, moving Condara to second before the senior advanced to third on a ground out from Gabriel Trastoy. The next batter, Zachary Cook, smacked a double to deep left, bringing Condara across the plate to make it 1-0.

The Wildcats (13-13, 7-5) evened the game at one in the bottom of the fourth before the Pack reclaimed the lead on a Condara single down the left field line that scored Jesse Jordan. In the bottom of the ninth however, Bethel was able to claim the two runs they needed for the walkoff, winning 3-2.

The Wolf Pack return home for their next series, hosting LSU-Shreveport at Segnette Field on Tuesday, March 27th at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader.

Wolf Pack Head Coach Doug Faust

"It's difficult to lose on the last pitch of the game. Joseph did a great job on the mound for us today and Ben Condara got us that big RBI. We thought we had done enough."

"Their pitchers did a good job also, that staff can pitch. We thought we had enough, but a ground ball single right to short ended the game, it wasn't hit very hard it was just in the right spot. Nothing else we can do except get back to work now and prepare for the next one."
