Wolf Pack Fall In Game Two And Three Of Series With Blue Mountain

The two teams picked up last night's second game in the 10th inning tied 8-8, before playing game three afterwards

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. - The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team fell in the concluding play of game two from last night 9-8, and game three in their series with Blue Mountain College 6-0 Saturday afternoon at the BMC Sportsplex.

The two teams continued game two from yesterday after it was halted due to darkness in the top of the 10th inning tied 8-8. The Wolf Pack (15-10, 1-5) were unable to score in the top of the inning, with the Toppers (16-5, 3-0) bringing in a quick run in the bottom, claiming a 9-8 win.

Game three of the series was a tough one for the Loyola offense, as the team managed only four hits in the nine-inning loss to the Toppers. Wyatt Lankford got the start for the series finale today, pitching a solid five innings while only allowing two earned runs and striking out two.

The Wolf Pack will remain on the road for their next series, heading to Alexandria, La. to make up their rained-out doubleheader with LSU-Alexandria on March 13th beginning at 3 p.m.

Wolf Pack Head Coach Doug Faust

"They pitched really well today, we didn't do a lot offensively today. When you get shutout, you're obviously not going to win the game. I told the players after the game, if we weren't good enough that's one thing, but we're getting good enough to compete with these top 30 teams and in the conference. If we just threw more strikes and played better defense we win one or two games this weekend. We just have to move on and get back to playing clean baseball."
