Box Score Loyola picks up their 14th win of the season, led by solid offensive performances from Tylar Beckham and Gabriela Martinez
NEW ORLEANS – Making up a game originally scheduled for October 12th, the Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team defeated Brewton-Parker 3-0 Monday night in The Den.
The Wolf Pack (14-18, 4-11) opened up the match with a quick 12-6 lead over the Barons (3-23, 0-13), a lead that would shrink with a run from the visitors. With the scoreboard at 18-14, the Pack went on a seven-point run to end the first set with an 11-point win 25-14.
To open up the second set Brewton-Parker would take a 3-2 advantage, however, that would be their only lead of the match. Loyola would eventually climb out to a 10-point lead in set two, before winning 25-18 to go up two sets to none.
To open the third set, the Pack had their eyes on the win, with two-straight kills by Tylar Beckham before senior Maddie Huekels added three consecutive service aces. By the end of the set, the Wolf Pack would reach their largest lead of the match at 14 and win 25-11 to clinch the 3-0 victory.
Loyola will head back out on the road for their final road match of the regular season, traveling to Mobile, Ala. to take on Spring Hill on Wednesday, October 31st at 6 p.m.
"Great win tonight for our team! We were relaxed and still performed at a high level. We kept our errors to a minimum and attacked the ball very well. Our hitters just made it happen tonight. Sunni and Maddie distributed the ball well and Maddie had a great serving night. We have a busy week ahead and look forward to having the opportunities to prepare us for the conference tournament next week."
