Box Score Loyola looks forward to playing six of their final seven matches at home after 23 of their 28 played have been on the road
PULASKI, Tenn. – Playing in their second to last road match this regular season, the Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team fell in a tough 3-0 game at Martin Methodist Saturday afternoon in the Curry Christian Life Center.
The Wolf Pack (13-15, 3-9) dropped set one 25-13 and set two 25-18 to open the match down two sets to none. In the third set, Loyola claimed an early lead, up 6-10 after a block by Champagne Cunningham and Maddie Huekels. The final set would remain tight and reach a 20-20 tie at one point, before the RedHawks (15-9, 9-2) narrowly claimed a 25-23 win.
Loyola will return home to The Den next week, hosting Faulkner University on Tuesday, October 23rd at 6 p.m. for their Breast Cancer Awareness Match.
"We really struggled with consistent passing and effective attacking today. That makes it very difficult to win these games. We'll continue to focus on improving and refining aspects of our game as we head into the final stretch of the regular season."
Pack Facts
Maddie Huekels recorded 12 assists and 10 digs for her 11th double double of the season.
For the 21st time this year, both Huekels and Sunni Blanchard reached double digits in assists.
Huekels is now tied for the sixth-most matches played in a career at Loyola with 138.
Tylar Beckham recorded three block assists today, moving her up the career total block leaderboard at Loyola to fifth all time with 308.
Champagne Cunningham had five total blocks today, reaching that mark for the third match this season.
