Loyola Battles With Mobile For Five Sets But Falls 3-2

Box Score

While the two teams trade sets, the Wolf Pack are unable to come out on top in a tough road match

MOBILE, Ala. – The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team took to the road for a weekday conference matchup at Mobile Tuesday night, falling in a tight five-set match 3-2.

The Wolf Pack (13-13, 3-7) opened up the match tonight with a back-and-forth set with Mobile (18-7, 7-3), eventually falling by just four, 25-21. However, while set two was just as close, Loyola edged the home team out, taking a tough-fought 26-24 set to make it one set to one.

The Rams would claim set three 25-13 to take a 2-1 advantage, before the Pack forced a tiebreaker set after a 25-13 victory of their own. The home team, however, would edge Loyola out 15-9 and claim the 3-2 win.

The Wolf Pack will remain on the road this coming weekend, traveling to Tennessee to face Bethel on Friday, October 19th at 6 p.m. before taking on Martin Methodist on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Wolf Pack Head Coach Jesse Zabal

"The girls showed some great fight tonight. We made some really great plays and fought back pretty well. Unfortunately, we just couldn't keep it together enough for the fifth set."
