Box Score

Loyola hits the 100-point mark for the second time this season behind two double-doubles by Di'Mond Jackson and Megan Worry

NEW ORLEANS - In their first home game in two weeks, the Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball team defeated Faulkner 100-59 today in The Den.

The Wolf Pack (13-4, 6-1) jumped out to an early lead, scoring 10 unanswered points to begin the game. Loyola's stout defense kept Faulkner (16-4, 4-4) off of the scoreboard for the first three minutes of action, and held onto a double-digit lead to close out the first quarter, entering the break up 28-18.

In the second period, the Pack's offense continued to roll, led by Di'Mond Jackson, Zoie Miller and Kaila Anthony. Picking up two quick assists, Jackson found Anthony for a three before connecting with an open Presley Wascom for another deep shot to begin the quarter. Buckets by An'Jolique Woodson, Anthony, Paige Franckiewicz and Miller extended the Pack's lead to 20 with two and half left to play in the second.

With Miller hitting a free throw at the end of the second, Loyola entered the halftime break up 51-31.

The third quarter began just as the second with the Pack connecting on two quick threes, this time from Jackson and Franckiewicz. While the two teams traded points for most of the quarter, the edge went to the Wolf Pack, who collected 11 of the final 15 points scored to close out the period with a 73-43 lead.

Freshman Chelsea Gray and junior Megan Worry began the final quarter with a pair of scores, continuing the pace for Loyola that they would hold for the remainder of the game. After heading to the free throw line with the final few seconds on the clock, Loyola hit the 100-point mark, their second game this season hitting triple digits.

Five members of the Pack hit double-digits in the scoring column today, led by Jackson who registered her third double-double on the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds, adding seven assists, four steals and a block. Joining Jackson in the double-double club was Worry, her first of the season, as she scored 12 points to go with 10 rebounds.

Early in the first quarter, Worry collected her 500th point for her career here at Loyola, and moved into a tie for third place for the most blocks in a career with 56. She also moves into the top-10 for most blocks in a season with 22.

Scoring 17 points for the Pack tonight, Miller now moves into a tie with Joelle Bordelon for the 10th-most points scored in a career at Loyola, now sitting at 1,122.

Anthony added 18 for the Pack today, while Franckiewicz collected 12 points off of four made three-pointers.

The visiting Eagles were led in scoring by Chelsea Burt with 13, while Brandy Alley tallied a double-double of her own with 11 points and 14 boards.

The Loyola women's basketball team will be back in action this Tuesday, January 23rd, as they host Southern University at New Orleans in The Den for their annual School Day Game at 12:30 p.m.
