Box Score Loyola takes on Middle Georgia State tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team continued its Georgia road trip on Saturday morning, this time heading to Brunswick to square off against the back-to-back Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) regular-season and tournament champions the (RV) College of Coastal Georgia.
The Mariners have owned this conference rivalry for the past four years, boasting an 8-1 overall record against the Wolf Pack dating back to 2012.
Saturday proved to be much of the same, as Loyola got swept by Coastal Georgia 3-0 (25-14,25-13,26-24) for the ninth-straight time overall.
With the loss, the Wolf Pack drop to 6-11 overall and 1-3 in SSAC play. Conversely, Coastal Georgia improves to 12-4 on the year and 5-0 in league action.
Allison Hartmann (SO/Slidell, La.) led Loyola in kills for the second-straight day, tallying a team-high six to go along with 1.5 blocks in the loss. Maddie Huekels (SO/Dyer, In.) continued her consistent play on Saturday, pacing the Wolf Pack with 12 assists and nine digs against the Mariners. Kaitlynn Watson (FR/South Lake Tahoe, Ca.) chipped in eight assists in the match, while Katie Philippi (SR/Metairie, La.) added six digs off the bench.
For Coastal Georgia, Kyra White led all players with 14 kills and Cayley Meiners handed out 36 of the team's 42 assists in the win.
The Wolf Pack stay in Georgia to take on Middle Georgia State tomorrow, Sept. 18, with first serve set for 2:00 p.m.
