Eyeing its first Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) victory, the Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team headed to the H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon to take on the (RV) University of Mobile.
Despite claiming the first set by five, the Wolf Pack fell to the Rams 1-3 (20-25,25-16,25-17,25-16) on the road, extending Loyola's losing streak against Mobile to seven matches.
Following the loss, Loyola drops to 5-10 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Conversely, the Rams improve to 7-4 on the year and 2-0 in SSAC action with the victory.
Allison Hartmann (SO/Slidell, La.) recorded her second-straight double-digit kill effort on Saturday, leading Loyola with 10 to go along with a team-high four blocks in the loss. Katie Philippi (SR/Metairie, La.) scooped 17 digs to pace the defense, while Maddie Huekels (SO/Dyer, In.) added a team-high 16 assists to go along with five digs.
Overall, the Wolf Pack collected 34 kills on 115 attempts with 22 errors to finish the match with a 0.104 hitting percentage.
The Rams featured three players with at least 10 kills on Saturday, led by Mirella Gatterdam's 14. Hannah Seale led all players with 21 assists in the victory, while Gatterdam added a team-high 14 digs to complete the double-double.
Loyola travels to Georgia on Friday, September 16, to take on SSAC foe Brewton-Parker College at 7:00 p.m.
