Loyola Volleyball falls at home to Faulkner University 3-0 on Saturday.

After an impressive 3-1 victory last night over Dalton State College (Ga.) at home, the Loyola University New Orleans Volleyball team returned to The Den on Saturday afternoon to take on Faulkner University. The Wolf Pack fell on their home court, dropping the 3-0 (17-25,23-25,20-25) decision to the Lady Eagles in a SSAC matchup.

With the loss, Loyola is now 5-7 overall and 1-1 in SSAC action.

The Wolf Pack jumped out to an early 7-0 advantage in the first set, thanks to some great serving by Fr. S Maddie Huekels (Dyer, Ind./Marian Catholic). The visitors quickly responded with a 9-2 run to bring the score to 9-9. A kill by Fr. OH Wren Oversech (Austin, Texas/Austin) gave Loyola the lead back at 10-9 before Faulkner strung together an 8-1 run to take the lead back at 17-11. The Lady Eagles ended the match on a 3-0 run to win the first set 25-17.

The second set saw both teams battle back-and-fourth to an 8-8 tie. The visitors put five on the board to take the slim 13-8 lead. The Wolf Pack battled back and an attack error brought the home team within one at 13-12. With the score at 15-15, an attack error followed by a kill from Fr. OHMycah Boland (Stockbridge, Ga./Heritage) put Loyola up 17-15. The score would knot up again at 21-21 before the Lady Eagles took control down the stretch to take the set 25-23 to go up 2-0.

Loyola started the third set behind from the beginning. The Wolf Pack was forced to call a timeout down six at 19-13. A kill by So. MB Keyanna Gayden (Calera, Ala./Calera) followed by a Faulkner error and an ace bySo. S Elizabeth Scionaeux (Reserve, La./East St. John) brought the home team within three at 19-16. Back-to-back kills from Fr. MB Jordan Davis (Litchfield Park, Ariz./Millennium) kept Loyola close, but a Wolf Pack error and a kill by Faulkner ended the set 25-20 giving the visitors the 3-0 victory.

Sr. OH Eva Allen (Oakland, Ca./Head-Royce) paced the Wolf Pack offense with nine kills and 11 total points. Huekels dished out a team-high 11 helpers and Scioneaux scooped up seven digs.

As a team, Loyola recorded 35 kills on 95 attempts (0.084) with 23 assists and 28 digs.

The Wolf Pack hit the court again on Friday, September 18, traveling to take on Coastal Georgia at 7:00 p.m.
