(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans baseball earned a split today with Brewton-Parker in its final games of the 2015 season, winning the first game of today's doubleheader at Wesley Barrow Stadium, 6-1, before dropping the second game 6-2.

A strong pitching performance from starter Daniel Posway and a two-run home run from Britt Pellegrin in the second inning propelled the Wolf Pack to victory in the first game.

Posway pitched a complete game, all seven innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out seven Brewton-Parker batters. Posway was given strong run support thanks to some clutch hitting from the Pack batters.

With the game scoreless in the bottom of the second inning, Pellegrin stepped to the plate and delivered his first home run of the season to give the Pack a 2-0 lead. Carmelo LoSauro had singled earlier in the inning and came in to score along with Pellegrin.

The next inning, Loyola added four more runs to increase its lead to 6-0. Andrew Fournet scored on a wild pitch from Ben Link, John Nicholson's double drove in Rawlings Elam, LoSauro's ground out brought in Nicholson and Luis Anguizola scored on a throwing error from Mike Parker.

The Barons scored one run in the top of the fifth but that's all they could muster against Posway. He earns his third win of the season, moving to 3-0.

Pellegrin finished the game with three RBI and one run scored. Elam, Nicholson, LoSauro and Pellegrin all had one hit each for the Wolf Pack.

In the second tonight it was Brewton-Parker's turn to hit crucial two-run home runs. More specifically, it was Mike Parker's turn. Parker hit a two run homer in the top of the first inning and another one in the fifth inning, each time breaking a tie and giving the Barons a two-run lead.

After Parker's first home run in the top of the first inning, Loyola responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Nicholson drove in both Alexander Lorenzo and Jordan Wilson with a single up the middle to even the game at two runs apiece.

The game remained tied at two all until the fifth inning when Parker teed off for his second home run. And this time, the Pack had no answer. The Barons scored another run in the sixth inning and one more in the seventh to take a 6-2 lead over Loyola.

The Pack loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning and got one runner in to score when Allen Newman was walked, but that was all that they could muster.

Christian Bragg picked up the win for Brewton-Parker, allowing two earned runs and four hits in six innings of work.

Senior Connor Thurman pitched two scoreless inning in relief in his last appearance on the mound for the Pack.

Wilson, Lorenzo, Nicholson and Pellegrin all had one hit each for the Pack. Nicholson finished with two RBI while Newman had one. Wilson, Lorenzo and Carmelo LoSauro each scored one run.

Brewton-Parker finishes the regular season with 15-20 overall record and a 10-15 conference record. They will move on to play in the SSAC conference tournament next week.

Loyola wraps up the season with a 23-28 record overall, and a 9-21 record in conference play. This marks the second year in a row the Pack has won 20 games in a season. Last season was the first season they had done so since 2006.
