(Cochran, Ga.) Middle Georgia State's Tay Jerger tossed a no-hit shutout Saturday afternoon in Cochran, Georgia as Loyola University New Orleans baseball fell to the Knights 5-0. The Wolf Pack was looking for a series sweep of SSAC opponent Middle Georgia, but instead settle for a 2-1 series win.
After scoring a combined 16 runs on 23 hits in the first two games of the series against the Knights, Loyola (17-18, 5-13 SSAC) was completely shut down by Jerger today. The Wolf Pack managed just four base runners on three walks and one Middle Georgia error.
Wolf Pack starting pitcher Kevin Lindsey was nearly just as dominant on the mound as Jerger. Lindsey allowed seven hits and no earned runs in 6.2 innings of work. But the Pack committed a total of four errors today, which led to three unearned runs for the Knights.
Middle Georgia (11-17, 6-12 SSAC) broke through for the first run of the game in the fourth inning when Peyton Kell singled to score Jerger. The Knights added two runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth.
Jerger moves to 2-3 with the win while Lindsey drops to 3-5. Logan Smith and Jerger both had multi-hit games for the Knights. Clint Wynn was 1-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
Loyola will be back in action on Tuesday, March 24 when they take on the University of New Orleans at 6:30 p.m.
