The Loyola University New Orleans Volleyball team returned to conference play on Monday evening, traveling to Tennessee to take on Bethel University inside the Crisp Arena. The Wolf Pack struggled on the road, falling to the host Lady Wildcats 3-1 (9-25,12-25,25-20,20-25).
Loyola drops to 11-10 overall and 3-4 in SSAC action with the loss. Conversely, Bethel improves to 12-7 on the year and 5-2 in conference play following the victory.
Backed by ruckus crowd inside the Crisp Arena, the home team dominated the first set, claiming the 25-9 victory to go up 1-0.
Bethel kept the pressure on during the second set and took the 25-12 victory to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the match.
Down but not out, Loyola quickly recovered and an ace by Sr. DS Breanna Stevenson (Desoto, Texas/Desoto) sealed the 25-20 victory in set three to keep the Wolf Pack within striking distance.
Up 2-1, the home team managed to weather the Loyola storm and took the set 25-20 and the match 3-1.
Sr. OH Eva Allen (Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce) and Fr. MB Allison Hartmann (Slidell, La./Pope John Paul II) both collected six kills on Monday, while Fr. S Maddie Huekels (Dyer, Ind./Marian Catholic) notched a double-double with 15 assists and 16 digs in the loss.
The Wolf Pack will remain in Tennessee tomorrow, Oct. 6, as they take on Martin Methodist University in a match set to start at 3:30 p.m.
