Coming off a 3-1 victory over Martin Methodist College at home on Saturday, the Loyola University New Orleans Volleyball team traveled to take on the University of Mobile on Tuesday evening. The Wolf Pack stumbled against the Rams, falling in three-straight sets (13-25,19-25,12-25) inside the H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium.
With the loss, Loyola drops to 16-16 on the year and 6-8 in the SSAC. Mobile improves to 25-5 overall behind an 11-3 conference mark following Wednesday's victory.
The home team took control of the match early, cruising to a 25-13 victory in set one.
The Wolf Pack refocused in the second set and hung with the Rams throughout. Mobile proved too tough down the stretch though and the home team won 25-19 to go up 2-0.
The Rams took care of business in the third set, claiming the 25-12 victory to earn the sweep at home.
Jr. OH Wren Oversech (Austin, Texas/Austin) and Fr. MB Jordan Davis(Litchfield Park, Ariz./Millennium) both had four kills on Wednesday, with Davis adding three blocks. Fr. S Maddie Huekels (Dyer, Ind./Marian Catholic) dished out a team-high 11 assists to go along with three digs and Sr. OH Eva Allen (Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce)added nine digs in the loss.
The Wolf Pack return to The Den on Thursday, Oct. 29, to celebrate Senior Night with a match against Xavier (La.) at 6:00 p.m.
