The Loyola University New Orleans Volleyball team took a break from conference play on Friday, traveling a few miles East to take on Dillard University. The Wolf Pack shined inside the Dent Center, sweeping the Lady Bleu Devils 3-0 (25-22, 29-27,25-9).
With the win, Loyola improves to 11-9 overall while Dillard falls to 3-13 following the loss.
In front of a hyped crowd inside the Dent Center, both teams battled back-and-forth in the first set. With the home crowd behind them, the Lady Bleu Devils held a slim lead early but the Wolf Pack bounced back and claim set one 25-22.
The second set proved even more exciting the first as both sides traded blows throughout. Neither team was able to put the other away and the set went into extra frames. Following some intense rallies, the visitors managed to hold on to take the 29-27 victory in the second set in thrilling fashion.
Loyola held no punches in the third set, keeping the pressure on en route to a 25-9 win in the set and a 3-0 victory in the match.
Sr. OH Eva Allen (Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce) led the Wolf Pack offense on Friday evening, collecting a team-high 13 kills to go along with four digs. Fr. S Maddie Huekels (Dyer, Ind./Marian Catholic) collected her third double-double of the season after racking up 11 kills and 12 assists. So. S Lindsey Ulfig (Saline, Mich./Malone) also had a big game for Loyola, collecting a team-best 14 assists and eight digs in the victory.
The Wolf Pack return to action on Monday, traveling to take on Bethel University at 7:00 p.m.
