Wolf Pack volleyball drops 3-1 decision at Brenau University on Saturday

Loyola travels to take on Tougaloo on Wednesday.

Following a split yesterday at the Clark Atlanta Tri-Match, the Loyola University New Orleans Volleyball team stayed in the state of Georgia today to take on Brenau University in an SSAC matchup. The Wolf Pack struggled against the Golden Tigers on the road, falling 3-1 (15-25,19-25,25-22,16-15) in Gainesville.

With the loss, Loyola falls to 14-14 on the year and 5-6 in SSAC action. Brenau improves to 9-15 on the year and 3-9 in conference play following the victory.

The Golden Tigers quickly took control of the match, claiming the first set 25-15. The home team kept it rolling in the second set and earned the 25-19 victory to go up 2-0.

The Wolf Pack showed their resilience in set three, holding on late to claim the 25-22 victory to bring the match score to 2-1.

Brenau quickly recovered and took the fourth set 25-16 to win the match 3-1 at home.

Sr. OH Eva Allen (Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce) led Loyola with 12 kills on 36 attempts. Sr. DS Breanna Stevenson (Desoto, Texas/Desoto)paced the Wolf Pack defense with 23 digs and Fr. S Maddie Huekels (Dyer, Ind./Marian Catholic) notched a double-double in the loss, dishing out a team-high 23 assists to go along with 12 digs.

Loyola returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 21, hitting the road to take on Tougaloo College at 6:00 p.m.
