Loyola women's basketball downs SSAC opponent Faulkner University in The Den

Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball took down conference opponent Faulkner University 106-69 this afternoon in The Den. The Wolf Pack is now 17-1 overall and 8-1 in SSAC play.

(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball took down conference opponent Faulkner University 106-69 this afternoon in The Den. The Wolf Pack are now 17-1 overall and 8-1 in SSAC play.

Five members of the Wolf Pack posted double-digit point totals. Senior standout and this week's SSAC Player of the Week and National Jesuit Player of the Week Janeicia Neely led the way for the Wolf Pack on offense, tallying 18 points. Neely went 6-of-13 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. She also dished out a game-high six assists on the day. Redshirt sophomore Briana Oglesby also notched 18 points, shooting 60% from the field and also drained two three-pointers to aid the Pack on offense. Sophomore Caroline Gonzalez tallied 13 points, nine of which came from beyond the arc, while fellow sophomore Kylah Jones recorded 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting. Sophomore Meghan Temple fell one rebound shy of her fifth double-double of the season, posting 10 points and nine boards. Junior Adrianne Sloboh captained the defensive effort for the Pack, grabbing 10 boards.

The Wolf Pack finished the day shooting 46% from the field and continued to shoot well from beyond the arc, draining 39% of their shots from three-point range. Loyola outrebounded the Eagles 50 to 44 and forced Faulkner to turn the ball over 19 times. The Wolf Pack combined for 11 steals on the day compared to the Eagles' six.

An incredible defensive performance by the Pack forced Faulkner (9-11, 4-6 SSAC) to shoot only 35% from the field and 30% from beyond the arc. In the first half, the Eagles converted only four of their 18 three-point attempts. Kayla Tillman paced the offense for Faulkner, posting a game-high 21 points. China Leary added 18 points, while Savana Flack notched 11 points. Olivia Adamson and Brandy Alley led the defense with eight rebounds apiece.

Loyola will resume action on Thursday, January 29 as they travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to face SSAC opponent William Carey University.
