(Houston, Texas) Loyola University volleyball opened the final day of play at the St. Thomas Labor Day Tournament with a win against Texas College, but fell short in their second match against Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
The Pack started the day on a high note, sweeping Texas College in three sets 25-9, 25-13, 25-17. Junior Eva Allen led the attack with seven kills on eight attempts, finishing with a .875 hitting percentage. Senior Lauren Brand added six kills, while sophomore Daniela Leal contributed four. Leal also compiled 23 assists and led the Pack's defensive effort with nine digs. Fellow sophomore Katie Philippi turned in eight digs in the win.
The squad fell to Oklahoma Wesleyan University in three sets 25-22, 25-22, 25-14. Allen posted 12 kills, while Brand tallied eight. Defensively, senior Becca Burnett led the Pack with 11 digs and Leal added seven. Leal also garnered 26 of the team's 27 assists.
Loyola posted a 1-1 record on the first day of tournament play as they defeated St. Gregory's University after falling to tournament host University of St. Thomas earlier in the day.
The Pack (2-2) will remain on the road to travel to Nashville, Tenn. to face Fisk University on Monday, Sept. 1 at 3 p.m.
