(McKenzie, Tenn.) After losing the first two sets tonight against SSAC opponent Bethel University, Loyola University New Orleans volleyball battled back to win two straight sets before ultimately losing in five, 25-10, 25-20, 20-25, 12-25, 15-10.
Junior Eva Allen led the Wolf Pack offense with 19 kills, just two short of her season high. Seniors Lauren Brand and Tiffany Walker added nine and six kills, respectively. Walker also tallied a game and career high five blocks on the night. Sophomore setter Daniela Leal notched 35 assists and six kills with no errors on seven attempts. Four Pack players totaled double-digit digs, led by senior Becca Burnett's 32. Sophomore Katie Philippi added 21 while Allen and freshman Elizabeth Scioneaux had 14 and 10, respectively.
Bethel (18-12, 10-7) tallied 65 team kills compared to the Pack's 46, with four members of the Wildcats reaching double-digit figures. Rachel Woody led the Wildcats with 19 kills while Eloisa Sales added 16. Breahna Stewart had 30 assists for Bethel and Cheyanne Smith drove the defensive effort with 34 digs.
Loyola (12-18, 5-12) will remain in the state of Tennessee for another conference matchup tomorrow at 2 p.m. against Martin Methodist. This will be the Wolf Pack's final match of the regular season before the SSAC Tournament, which will begin next Thursday, November 13.
