(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team showed great promise in all three sets, but fell to a relentless Southern Wesleyan squad 21-25, 22-25, 23-25 Saturday afternoon in The Den.

Although the Wolf Pack (3-13, 1-4 SSAC) inched closer to a victory with each set, they failed to find an answer to Southern Wesleyan's hang-tough style of play. Senior Sabrina Stansberry turned in a stellar offensive performance for Loyola, collecting 12 kills, four solo blocks and one block assist. Sophomore Eva Allen helped power the attack with 11 kills on 21 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage. Allen recorded a combined 24 kills on the weekend.

The Warriors (16-7, 4-0 SSAC) fell flat to open the third set as they allowed the Wolf Pack to ease through an 8-point run, but managed to retain their unbeaten conference record and take home the win. Juniors Jacinta Hoffpauir, Cherilyn Ramsey and Courtney Williams reached double digits in kills, posting 10, 13 and 14 respectively. Williams and senior libero Kelsey Deerinwater paced the defense with 10 digs each.

Loyola will return to conference action in the first of three home matches next week when they take on Belhaven University on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. in The Den.
