Loyola volleyball kicks off homestand with win over Coastal Georgia

The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team kicked off the first match of a five match home stand with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-18 victory over Coastal Georgia Friday night in The Den in a Southern States Athletic Conference match-up.

New Orleans, La.- The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team kicked off the first match of a five match home stand with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-18 victory over Coastal Georgia Friday night in The Den in a Southern States Athletic Conference match-up.

In the first ever meeting between the two schools, Eva Allen and Sabrina Stansberry each had eight kills. Kailey Tuthill pitched in with 7 kills. Stansberry added four blocks for the Wolf Pack defense. With the win, Loyola improved to 10-4 on the season and 2-4 in the SSAC

"It was a very nice match for us tonight. We came out strong in the beginning which I thought helped our momentum. It was nice to get a win in front of the home crowd," said Loyola head coach Tommy Harold.

For the Mariners (8-10, 2-2 SSAC), Lindsay Herman led the attack with seven kills and contributed 13 digs. Kansas Robison aided in the Coastal Georgia defense with 14 digs. Kara Neisen had three aces, five kills, two blocks and 10 digs.

Loyola returns to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Brewton Parker in The Den. Saturday marks Girl Scout Day with a free clinic for all Girl Scouts after the match. Also as part of Family Day, registered family members of Loyola students will be admitted to the match for free.
