NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Loyola volleyball team opened the 2011 season with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-15) win over the Southern University New Orleans Lady Knights, Saturday evening at The Castle. It was the season opener for both teams.
"It was very exciting to get out there and play against another team," said Coach Tommy Harold. "We had moments that we were very pleased with the match, but there is still a lot of improving to do over the course of the season." The Wolfpack excelled in serving for the evening tailing eleven aces. Junior setter Samantha Worsham had a total of five aces and senior Amanda Oldani finished up with four. Both Gill and Mullinix both contributed with one a piece. Loyola looks to improve for their upcoming match against the University of Wisconsin- Platteville and Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas on September 2. The 'Pack takes on UWP at 1 p.m. and then Trinity at 3.30 p.m.
