After first coaching with the Loyola Wolf Pack men's basketball program in the 2017-18 as an assistant coach, Trey Lindsey returned to Loyola in 2025 as the 19th head coach in program history and its fifth in the modern era. He completed his first season as head coach in 2026.Â
In his first year back with the Wolf Pack, Lindsey helped guide the team to a 10-win improvement over the previous year, finishing the '25-26 season with a 22-8 record. The team also qualified for the NAIA National Championship tournament for the 11th time in program history. Point guard Kameron Johnson was named the SSAC Player of the Year, just the second Wolf Pack men's basketball player to do so.Â
Lindsey returned to Loyola after serving as an assistant coach under Stacy Hollowell during the 2017-18 season, and he teamed back up with Hollowell in 2024-25 in the assistant and recruiting coordinator role at the University of New Orleans. While at Loyola, Lindsey recruited a few pieces of Loyola’s 2021-22 NAIA National Championship team, including four-time NAIA All-Americans Myles Burns and Zach Wrightsil.Â
Â
At UNO, Lindsey was the lead assistant and oversaw the recruiting efforts, day-to-day operations and scheduling. Prior to his return to New Orleans to coach at UNO, Lindsey was the head coach at his high school alma mater Bowie High School in Austin, Texas, for two seasons. At Bowie, he controlled every aspect of the 70-plus student-athlete program, including budget, booster club, coordinating travel, scheduling and camps.Â
Â
After his 2018 season at Loyola, Lindsey spent four years at his college alma mater, St. Edwards’s University in Austin, Texas, where his teams made two trips to the NCAA Division II national tournament, including the program’s first-ever Sweet 16 appearance, and won a Heartland Conference regular season and tournament championship. The team was 86-28 during his stint with the Hilltoppers, as Lindsey played a pivotal role in recruiting.Â
Â
Lindsey began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at St. Edwards during the 2016-17 campaign after his collegiate playing career ended one season prior. As a two-time captain, he started all 60 career games for the Hilltoppers, averaging 8.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He started his college playing career at the University of Louisiana-Monroe, where he appeared in 45 games for the Warhawks with 14 starts. In high school, he helped Bowie High School win two district championships and one regional title as a three-year letterman.Â
Â
He graduated from St. Edwards with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology in 2015 and a Master of Science in Leadership and Change in 2017.Â
Â
Lindsey currently lives in New Orleans with his wife Maddie and daughter Zoe.
