2023-24 (5th):

Competed in five meets this season… Had a personal-best time in the 50Y Freestyle (21.43) at the Fall Cross Divisional Meet… Recorded season-bests in the 100Y Freestyle (49.24) and 100Y Butterfly (54.06) at Trinity’s Tiger Invitational.

2022-23 (Senior):

Competed in five meets this season as a senior… Recorded third-place finishes in the 50-yard Freestyle (23.53) and 100-yard Butterfly (56.33) against Millsaps in November… Had season-best times in the 100-yard Freestyle (49.04) and 50-yard Butterfly (24.89) at The Sun Conference Championships in February… Also notched season-best times in the 50-yard Freestyle (22.70) and 100-yard Butterfly (54.21) at the Tiger Invitational in November. 

2021-22 (Junior):

Swam in five races this season… Started the year with a second-place finish against Ouachita Baptist in the 100 Yard Butterfly (55.43)... Took third place in the same race (56.37) a week later against Millsaps… Swam a personal-record time of 47.86 in the 100 Yard Freestyle event at the Trinity Invitational in November.

2020-21 (Sophomore):

Did not compete in any swim meets this season.

2019-20 (Freshman):

Participated in all eight meets as a freshman this season… All-Mid-South Conference Second Team… Began Loyola career with third-place finishes in the 100 Yard Freestyle and 100 Yard Fly against Ouachita Baptist… Finished third in the 100 Yard Freestyle at the West Florida Tri-Meet… Placed third in the 200 Yard Fly in a dual meet against Lindsey Wilson.

Pre-Loyola:

Swam at Jesuit High School in Tampa, Fla., under head coach Bill Shaffer … Was a member of the state championship teams in 2017 and 2018.

Personal:

Born May 9, 2001 … Son of Bill and Liz Shaffer … His favorite food is mac & cheese and his least favorite is zucchini … Favorite book is Legend by Marie Lu … Favorite movie is Jurassic Park … His favorite activities outside of swimming are art and playing video games … Favorite athlete is Caeleb Dressel … One thing about him that would surprise people is that he likes to do art.
