MONTGOMERY, Ala. – For the second straight year, Alissa O'Dell has been named to the Women's Basketball SSAC Championship All-Tournament Team, the league announced on Sunday. O'Dell and the top-seeded Wolf Pack took down Mobile in the quarterfinals before No. 4-seed William Carey upset the Pack in the semifinal round.
The Zachary, Louisiana, native turned in two double-doubles in Montgomery, Alabama, as she started her tournament with an 18-point, 15-rebound performance against the Rams. The next day, against the Crusaders, O'Dell scored 11 points with 10 rebounds and two steals.
O'Dell is averaging 16.2 points and 8.3 rebounds this season, and she was named the SSAC Player of the Year earlier this week.
Loyola earned an automatic qualifier berth to the NAIA National Championship tournament after winning the SSAC regular-season title. The Pack went 15-2 in league play this season, compiling a 24-4 overall record after this week's play in the conference tournament. They'll find out their first-round destination on Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. when the NAIA announces its national tournament field.
