NEW ORLEANS – Each year Ochsner Sports Medicine recognizes exceptional athletic trainers who go above and beyond for their student-athletes, and two of the Loyola Wolf Pack athletic trainers were honored in the process. Madison Voigt received the Patients First Award and Keandra Gray was honored with the Inclusivity Award.

Ochsner has six core values that are represented with these awards: Patients First, Excellence, Inclusivity, Integrity, Compassion, and Teamwork.

The Inclusivity Award celebrates treating with dignity, celebrating individual differences and taking the initiative to understand and show respect for others' experiences, needs, values and skills. The Patients First Award highlights the dignity and needs of patients, customers, families and guests while including patients in decisions about their healthcare.

"To be recognized by Ochsner for fostering inclusivity is both humbling and inspiring — a testament to the value of celebrating individuality and creating connections rooted in empathy and understanding," Gray said.

Gray joined the Loyola staff in January 2021 after previously working with the Louisiana Fire Soccer Club Teams in New Orleans. Kea graduated from Tarleton State University in 2020 with a master's degree in athletic training. During her time as a student, she worked with the Tarleton Football Team and Cisco Community College. Before attending Tarleton, she received her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, where she worked with SFA football and soccer as an athletic training student intern. Kea covers men's basketball and tennis for Wolf Pack athletics.

"This recognition reflects the dedication to always putting patients at the heart of everything we do," Voigt said. "It is their trust, resilience, and comeback stories that inspire us to continuously innovate and provide compassionate care. As an athletic trainer, we believe that patients should always have a voice in their plan of care, and together, we work toward solutions that honor their needs, choices, and aspirations towards returning to play."

Voigt is a Michigan native and joined the Loyola staff in the fall of 2022. Prior to moving to New Orleans, Madison graduated from Central Michigan University with her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2019. She started her career with MidMichigan Health working at the high school level then transitioned to Kent State University in 2021 where she worked with the women's field hockey and men's wrestling teams. Madison now works with Loyola's baseball and men's and women's golf teams.
