MONTGOMERY, Ala. – For the second week in a row, the Loyola Wolf Pack women's basketball program picked up an SSAC weekly award, with Alissa O'Dell being named the SSAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
While O'Dell was First Team All-Conference last season, this is the first SSAC weekly award in her Loyola career. In the team's current three-game win streak, they've had two SSAC Players of the Week, with fellow junior Deniya Thornton garnering the defensive honor last week.
O'Dell, who has scored in double figures in five straight games, dominated against Blue Mountain Christian on Thursday to start a two-game conference road trip. Loyola won 67-49 against the Toppers, with O'Dell posting a 28-point, 11-rebound double-double. She shot 9-for-14 in the contest, while also going a perfect 10-for-10 at the stripe.
Loyola's matchup with Tennessee Southern was closer, but the Wolf Pack came away with a 71-63 victory to go 2-0 on the road trip. O'Dell had 12 points and 10 rebounds in the contest, shooting 5-for-10 and making her only two free throw attempts.
The Zachary, Louisiana, native ranks in the top five in the conference in several statistical categories this season, including points per game (15.3), rebounds per game (9.1), and field goal percentage (56.4%).
The Wolf Pack will begin a stretch of four home games on Saturday with a 12 p.m. contest against Arkansas Baptist.
