SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Loyola University New Orleans men's and women's swim teams traveled to San Antonio, Texas, over the weekend to compete in their annual mid-season swim meet - the Trinity Tiger Invitational. Competing against mostly NCAA Division II and III programs, the Wolf Pack men's team placed third out of nine teams and the women took fourth out of nine.

The two Wolf Pack teams will return to action in January with two more meets before February's Sun Conference Championships.

The highlight from Friday was Sergio Martínez Sanz's program-record swim of 4:38.21 in the 500-yard freestyle that just barely eclipsed Benjamin Chehebar's swim of 4:39.31 at last year's NAIA National Championship. The sophomore placed third in the event for Loyola's best placement of the evening finals events. The women's best finish also came in the 500-yard freestyle, as Emma Romero placed fifth with a season-best time of 5:22.17.

On Saturday, Dylan Chehebar swam a personal best in the 100-yard butterfly in a second-place effort. His time of 49.61 just edged his previous lifetime best by .21 of a second. Charles Henderson took fourth place in the same race with a time of 50.41. Monty Moore-Yetter also had a fourth-place effort, swimming a season-best time of 56.90 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Abbigail Chemacki highlighted the women's day with a fourth-place swim of 4:51.92 in the 400-yard IM, which was also a season best for the senior. Romero had a season best in the 200-yard freestyle as well, with a time of 1:59.54 to place fifth.

Sanz was at it again on Sunday, breaking two more program records. His swim of 16:29.44 broke the the 1,650-yard freestyle program-best mark with a fourth-place effort in the race. His 1,000-yard split time of 9:54.71 was a program record as well, so he now owns the program records in all three of the long distance events (500-, 1,000- and 1,650-yard freestyle).

Romero had the best finish of the weekend among the swimmers on the women's team, placing second in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:19.02. Moore-Yetter added a third-place swim in the 200-yard breaststroke on Sunday as well, swimming a 2:04.88.
