Luckoski, Meigs named to SSAC Scholar-Athlete Team

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced Wednesday that Jace Luckoski and Connor Meigs earned spots on the Barnes & Noble College Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team. This year's conference award marks the first time that Luckoski and Meigs have earned scholar-athlete honors from the SSAC.
 

To be eligible for a spot on the scholar-athlete team, student-athletes must be sophomores or above in academics and athletics, hold a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or greater, and compete in at least 50 percent of competitions.
 

Luckoski had a strong sophomore season, on and off the course, earning All-Conference and All-Academic honors from the SSAC, along with NAIA Scholar-Athlete status. The Belle Chasse, Louisiana, native also added the sixth-best time in program history to his resume, posting a 21:26.18 time in the 4-mile run at the Nicholls Invitational. Luckoski logged career-best times in 2024 in the 5-kilometer and 8-kilometer races, 16:23.1 and 26:21.6, respectively. Luckoski has a 3.97 GPA as a mathematics major. 
 

The junior Meigs was also recognized by both the NAIA for Scholar-Athlete honors and the  SSAC for All-Academic distinction. In addition, Meigs, who has a 3.75 GPA as a music industry studies major, landed on the SSAC Champions of Character team as well. Meigs notched the seventh-best time in the Loyola record book with a 21:36.2 time in the 4-mile run at the Nicholls Invitational. The Raleigh, North Carolina, native recorded career-best times in the 5-kilometer and 8-kilometer events, finishing in 16:23.3 and 26:55.0, respectively.
