Baseball finishes weekend at Lyon College

Box Score

The 12th-ranked Wolf Pack wrapped up a three-game series with Lyon College on Sunday, suffering a 12-2 loss in the finale

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The No. 12 Loyola Wolf Pack finished a tough weekend in Batesville, Arkansas, on Sunday, dropping the series finale with the Lyon College Scots 12-2. The loss moves Loyola to 9-9 overall. It'll be a quick turnaround for the team, as the Pack will travel to Pineville, Louisiana, to take on Louisiana Christian College at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

The game started well for Loyola, getting on the board first with a run in the first inning. Payton Alexander, Allen Dennis and Ross Selvaggi all walked consecutively with one out in the opening frame, then a single by Cameron Trosclair made it a 1-0 Loyola lead. However, Loyola left the bases loaded with a strikeout and a flyout to end the inning.

Lyon College tied the game in the bottom half of the first, but the Pack struck again in the second. Christopher Bohrer doubled with one out and Aaron Davis followed that up with a single to put two in scoring position. Cullins brought one home with a sacrifice fly, but Loyola stranded another in scoring position again. This was also the case in the second and eighth innings for Loyola.

The Scots, though, tied the game in the bottom of the second, but the game remained tied until the fifth inning. They scored three in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh before putting the run-rule into effect with a four-spot in the eighth.
