Pack Claim a Pair of Road Wins at Tougaloo

Recording 18 hits and 14 stolen bases on the day, the Wolf Pack offense helped pick up a pair of victories

JACKSON, Miss. – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team took to the road for a doubleheader at Tougaloo College Tuesday afternoon, picking up a pair of victories by a score of 7-6 in game one and 7-2 in game two.

The Wolf Pack (13-15) were quick to jump on to the scoreboard in the first game, with Nathan Law and Brandon Wilson Jr. reaching on singles before coming around to score on an error from the home team. While the Bulldogs (4-15) would score a run of their own in the bottom of the opening inning, Loyola added a run in the second, two in the third and two more in the fourth on a two-run home run from Allen Dennis.

As Tougaloo slowly inched their way back in after scoring two in the bottom of the seventh inning, Loyola would shut the door with a final score of 7-6 giving them the victory.

In game two the Pack would jump out in front early yet again, as Wilson singled to shortstop to plate Jase Biehl, with Dennis driving him in moments later to make it a 2-0 game. Loyola would add two more in the second and third innings, as a single up the middle by Patrick Crifasi plated Patrick Chen See and Michael Toscano to give the Wolf Pack a 6-0 advantage.

The home team added a pair of runs in the fourth inning but that would be all they could muster, with a sac-fly in the next inning from the Pack making it a 7-2 game, a score that would hold through the remainder of the seven-inning contest.

Loyola will return home this weekend and continue their conference schedule as they host Martin Methodist for a three-game series on March 22 and 23, and celebrate their 2019 senior class during Saturday's game at 1 p.m.

Wolf Pack Head Coach Doug Faust

"I told the guys after today's doubleheader, I'm really proud of the way they played since we've been struggling a bit. Today was a difficult challenge, leaving at 7:30 a.m. for two games on the road, but it was the first time we were able to sweep a doubleheader at their place in four years. We threw a lot of pitchers today that all performed well, and we had some great at bats from all of our hitters. These were two good team wins in a tough environment to play."
