Box Score
(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans baseball fell to NCAA Division I opponent the University of New Orleans 8-2 Tuesday night at First NBC Ballpark.
Loyola (19-21) opened up the scoring tonight, getting one run in the top of the first inning to take an early lead. That lead would be short lived, however, as New Orleans (11-17) answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead. The Privateers would not surrender the lead for the remainder of the ballgame.
New Orleans added two more runs in the bottom of the third to stretch their lead to three runs. The Privateers had no hits in the inning but a Pack error and multiple stolen bases and sacrifice hits allowed New Orleans to push two runs across.
Four more runs on four hits for the Privateers in the bottom of the fifth inning gave New Orleans some added insurance and would make it difficult for the Wolf Pack to engineer any sort of comeback.
Loyola would add one more run in the top of the seventh as Luis Anguizola and Carmelo LoSauro had back-to-back doubles to start the inning. The Pack threatened in the ninth inning, loading the bases with just one out, but the Privateers retired two straight Wolf Pack batters to wrap up the ballgame.
Anguizola, LoSauro, Lance Licciardi, Abram White and Mick Dubic had one hit each for Loyola. Anguizola scored once and drove in one run while LoSauro had one RBI and Andrew Fournet scored one run.
Jordan Green suffered the loss for the Pack, allowing four runs, three earned, in three innings pitched. Joey Kulla, Nick Moore and Stewart Campbell all pitched one inning of scoreless relief.
Darron McKigney earned the win for New Orleans, giving up one run in three innings. Matt Rykaczewski led the New Orleans batting effort with three hits, one run scored and one RBI. Hezekiah Randolph did not have a hit tonight but walked twice and scored three runs.
Loyola will be back to SSAC play this weekend as they travel to Blue Mountain, Mississippi to take on Blue Mountain College. The Wolf Pack and the Toppers will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a single game on Saturday at 12 p.m.
